The Camargue Museum in Arles
Opened since 1979, located in the middle Camargue, in an old sheep-fold, the Camargue Museum recalls the evolution of the human activity in the delta of the Rhone since the 19th century until our days. A broad part of the permanent exposure is devoted to the life in a farmhouse at the 19th century (agriculture, breeding, drive out, fishing, festivals and traditions…) and to the economic activities which were developed in the 20th century (hydraulic installations, vine growing, rice growing, production of marine salt…).
