Arles Museum of Antiquity (Musée départemental de l'Arles Antique)
IIn 2008 was discovered the oldest known bust of Julius Caesar on the banks of the Rhone in Arles. This discovery and more than 600 others objects of the past brought celebrity to this Arles Museum of Antiquity (in French: Musée départemental de l'Arles Antique) where these objects are from now on exposed.
A little bit outside from the city center this museum worth a short walk in particular for its educational aspect. A formidable journey thru time!!
Do not miss the archaeological exhibition: "Caesar, the Rhône for memory" ( César, le Rhône pour mémoire in French) in Arles from the 24th October to the19th September 2010
The exhibition looks back at 20 years of excavations in the river at Arles called Le Rhône and off the coast at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
Of more than 500 objects on show, undoubtedly the most impressive is this famous bust of Julius Caesar.

The museum can be visited in two different ways:
- Chronologically, running from Prehistory, 2500 B.C. (the entrance) to the end of Antiquity, 6th century (the exit);
- Thematically, corresponding to the characteristics of the museum's various collections (daily life, trade, the economy, embellishments).
